CIPC Company Lookup

Overview

These endpoints query the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) database to retrieve information about registered South African companies and their directors.

Get Enterprise Information

POST /Citizen/CIPCCheckEnterprise

Returns registration details, status, and information about a CIPC-registered company.

Field	Description
`CIPCEnterprises`	List of CIPC-registered companies that match the request
`CIPCEnterprises[].EnterpriseName`	Registered name of the company
`CIPCEnterprises[].Status` / `StatusCode`	Company status description and its code
`CIPCEnterprises[].StatusDate`	Date of the most recent status change
`CIPCEnterprises[].CompanyType` / `CompanyTypeCode`	Company type and its code
`CIPCEnterprises[].FinancialYearEnd`	Financial year end, as an integer
`CIPCEnterprises[].PhysicalAddressLine1` to `Line4`	Physical address lines, with `PhysicalAddressPostCode`
`CIPCEnterprises[].PostalAddressLine1` to `Line4`	Postal address lines, with `PostalAddressPostCode`
`TotalRecords` / `TotalReturnedRecords`	Number of records found and number returned

Each enterprise also includes industry classification fields (Sic_Code, Sic_Code_Description), FinancialYearEnd_EffectiveDate, RegistrationDate_OnFile, BusinessStartDate_OnFile, RecordDate, Source, Reference, ChangeTypeCode, and ChangeType. See the API reference for every field.

Get Company Directors

POST /Citizen/CIPCCheckDirectors

Returns the list of directors and their details for a CIPC-registered company. The request fields are the same as for CIPCCheckEnterprise.

`IDNumberTen`	First 10 digits of the director’s ID number
`PersonName`	Director’s name
`DirectorStatus` / `DirectorStatusCode`	Director’s status and its code
`DirectorType` / `DirectorTypeCode`	Type of director and its code
`AppointmentDate`	Date the director was appointed
`ResignationDate`	Date the director resigned, if applicable
`ValidID`	`true` if the director’s ID number is valid
